| TIGER PRAWN FARMING Permit To Establish Tiger Prawn Farm (Section 29, State Fisheries Ordinance 2003) A permit is required to start and establish Tiger Prawn Farm. Application forms can be obtained from any Divisional Agriculture Offices in Sarawak. Procedure for Application Completed application forms can be submitted to Enforcement and Licensing Unit, Inland Fisheries, or through any Divisional Agriculture Offices together with the following certified true copies of supporting documents in 7 sets.
Permit will be issued if the application is approved by the Tiger Prawn Licensing Panel. Permit fee is RM50.00. Please be reminded that it is an offence to establish and operate Tiger Prawn farms without a valid Permit or License. Penalty A fine not exceeding RM20,000 or 5 years imprisonment of both. Certification (Section 30, State Fisheries Ordinance 2003) After completing construction of the project, the applicant must inform this office for certification. If the project is completed in accordance to the Permit issued, the applicant will be informed to pay RM10.00 fee for the issue of certificate (usage of ponds for aquaculture) as prescribed under Section 30. License to Culture Tiger Prawns (Section 28, State Fisheries Ordinance 2003) After certification have been done, only then the applicant writes in to this office for the issue of the license to culture prawns subject to payment of the license fees at RM20.00 per hectare or part thereof per annum (third schedule) and to be renewed annually. Terms and Conditions of the license are to be strictly adhered to by the operators for the sustainability of the aquaculture industry. Failure to comply will risk being fined or license revolved.
